Dobbytron Features

Macomber Emulation

The Dobbytron faithfully follows the Macomber loom driver protocols, so any weaving software that has a Macomber-type loom driver should work correctly with the Dobbytron.

The connection(s) between the Dobbytron and the loom follow the existing Macomber specifications, so the Dobbytron can be connected to a Macomber using standard Macomber cables.

The serial port connector on the Dobbytron is 9 pins rather than 25 pins, so a serial cable that ends in a 9-pin connector must be used, rather than the 25-pin connector historically used by Macomber.

Diagnostic Aids

The Dobbytron has a diagnostic mode which greatly assists in identifying problems with cables and switches. Indeed, the loom can be tested without having a computer connected, using just the pushbuttons and lights on the Dobbytron. The switches on the beater bar can be tested separately, as can the operation of the individual solenoids within the loom.

Universal Power

The Dobbytron can be powered most anywhere in the world, using the power supply that comes with the unit. The only modification that's required is to change out the "US/Canada" power cord for a power cord that's compatible with the power system in the target country. Once the correct cord is used, the power supply in the Dobbytron figures out how to operate on the supplied power.

Regulated Power

The Dobbytron precisely controls the flow of power to the loom solenoids, so solenoid overheating is not a risk. Because of this, the Dobbytron does not 'time out' after 5 minutes; you may leave the harnesses raised as long as you wish.
