Dobbytron Purchase

The Dobbytron is presently available for Macomber single-treadle (up to 16 harness) and Air Dobby (up to 32 harness) looms.

The Dobbytron includes:

  1. Dobbytron proper (that is, the box of electronics).
  2. Cables. This includes the cable(s) that connect the Dobbytron to the loom dobby apparatus(1 cable for up to 16 harnesses, or 2 cables for more than 16 harness looms) and the cable that connects the Dobbytron to the computer (the 'serial' cable).
  3. Power pack. Unless otherwise specified, the power pack that is shipped is designed for use within the United States and Canada.
  4. Owner's Manual. A complete description of the Dobbytron's features, installation, and troubleshooting.

The Dobbytron DOES NOT include the dobby apparatus you will need for your loom. It is strictly the electronics that go with a dobby-equipped Macomber loom. If you already have a dobby loom from Macomber, you can purchase the Dobbytron as described here, to replace the electronics you already have on your loom (this is a direct replacement).

If you loom is NOT presently set up as a dobby loom, you will need to purchase the necessary conversion items from Macomber Looms, or ship your loom to Macomber for conversion at their factory.

Residents of New York State will need to determine their appropriate sales tax (it varies by county in New York State, so it depends on where you live).

If your computer does not have a serial port, you will probably need to use a USB-to-serial converter, which you can purchase locally or from various online vendors.

Ordering

To order a Dobbytron, please send an e-mail to info2@dobbytron.com including the following information:

  1. The type of loom (specifically, single-treadle or air dobby, which makes a difference in which power pack we ship you).
  2. The number of harnesses on your loom.
  3. A description of your computer, including the manufacturer's name and the model of the computer, if known. There are many kinds of computers! We will work with you to determine if your computer is suitable for use with the Dobbytron. The most crucial issues are the kinds of serial ports on your computer, and the kinds of connector they use.

Once we receive your e-mail, we'll reply with an assessment of the suitability of the Dobbytron for use with your loom and computer, and a firm price quote, including taxes and shipping.
